Training at Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School

‘No pain, no gain’. When you are training here you may sweat every day. Sometimes physical pain or weakness will bother you and you might not want to do anything. But don’t worry, our masters will help you to resolve any matters related to training.

An old saying in Chinese martial arts field says: “The master teaches the trade, but the perfection of the apprentice’s skill depends on himself”. Our masters will teach you how to do something and they will do their utmost to help you to progress, but your actual progress all depends on your personal effort. The harder you train, the more you learn, and the better you get.

Training Plan

The basic skills of legs, waist, shoulders and stance training need to be practiced daily to build up a solid foundation for further development of your Kung Fu skills. The basic skills can be applied in all the various styles to learn more specific routines of e.g. boxing, kicking and weapon skills. The harder you work the better your results will be.

Training Schedule:

An outline of our daily training schedule is given below. Times vary depending on the seasons. The teaching plan can be adjusted to your personal goals, style focus and body condition.

Teaching Plan

We customize individual study programs for every student according to different situations, ages and expectations. we have 1-week, 1-month, 3-months, 6-months, 1-year and 3-years programs.

In order to give you a general idea of what you can learn during different lengths of stay, we provide you a rough teaching plan. This plan will be adjusted individually to personal body condition, preference and improvements. For example, if you like one type of weapon in particular you can learn more forms of that weapon during your stay here. Remember though that the masters have spend their entire life learning the art of kung fu, their suggestions for optimal forms for you might not always be what you expect but if you adhere to their advice you will see great results.

– Several weeks to one month: In this time you will learn the Basic knowledge of Shaolin Kung Fu ( Shaolin Kung Fu customs; fundamental kicks, steps and sweeps, punches, palms, hand shapes); rudimentary movements of Shaolin fist, staff and broadsword; One traditional Shaolin Introductory fist form is what you’ll have to master. Furthermore basic Tai Chi moves and a basic Tai Chi form according to individual preference.

  – 13 Step Tai Chi
  – Five Step Tai Chi

– Three months: During this time of studying you will learn Shaolin Kung Fu theory (to reach a more complete understanding of Shaolin Kung Fu), Shaolin Kung Fu customs, learn about 2-3 traditional Shaolin fist forms, 2 traditional Shaolin weapon forms and Tai Ji forms as well as all the applications of the forms. You will also be more skilled in Sanda wrestling techniques, the law of attack and defense, Sanda sparring and some hard Qi Gong.

 – Tai Zu Fist
 – Damour Straightsword
 – Qi Mei Staff ( or Qi Mei Stick)
 – 24 Step Tai Chi

– Six months: During this time you will know Shaolin Kung Fu theory (to a higher understanding of Shaolin Kung Fu), Shaolin Kungfu customs, flexibility training, stability training, endurance training, authentic Shaolin health care Qigong, Yi Jin Jing and Ba Duan Jin, Learn about 5-6 intermediate traditional Shaolin fist forms, 3-4 intermediate traditional Shaolin Weapon forms, In hard Qi Gong you can break an iron bar or steel board or throat withstand a spear.

 – Tong Bei Fist
 – Zhao Yang Fist
 – Liu He Fist (Two-Person Form)
 – Plum Blossom Fist ( or Mei Hua Fist)
 – Eagle Claw Forms ( or Ying Zhao Fist)
 – Four Weapons: Shaolin Spear, Three Section Stick, Drunken Straightsword (Zui Jian), Monk Spade

– One Year: You will know all Shaolin Kung Fu customs and ideas. High achievements in flexibility, stability and endurance training. Authentic Shaolin health care Qi Gong, Ba Duan Jin and Yi Jin Jing. You will learn advanced traditional Shaolin forms selected from the famous Shaolin 18 types of weapons and 72 secret skills. In hard Qi Gong you can break an iron bar or steel board or throat withstand a spear.

 – Jin Gang Fist
 – Monkey Fist (or Monkey Forms)
 – Liu He Fist (Two-Person Form)
 – Pao Fist
 – Tong Bi Fist
 – Xin Yi Fist
 – Weapons: Shaolin Povision Straightsword, Shepherd Whip ( or Mu Yang Bian), Double Hooks, Damour Rod

After you’ve finished a set of movements or a form, masters will teach you all its practical applications in order to make you understand the underlying meaning of the form. You will be granted an official certificate from Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School after you finish your training period.

Shaolin Kung Fu is like a vast ocean, learning is an endless process. You are never too old and it is never too late to learn.
